Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses high-energy acoustic sound waves to target areas of the body with chronic pain, tightness, or poor tissue healing. These waves stimulate the body’s natural healing response, helping to reduce pain and improve function.

Originally developed to treat kidney stones, Shockwave Therapy has become a powerful tool in musculoskeletal care—particularly for conditions that are slow to heal or resistant to other treatments.

How Does It Work?

Shockwave Therapy delivers mechanical pulses (sound waves) deep into the tissue. These waves cause microtrauma at a cellular level, which stimulates the body’s repair mechanisms by:

  • Increasing blood flow to the affected area
  • Stimulating collagen production (a key protein in connective tissues)
  • Breaking down scar tissue and calcifications
  • Reducing pain and inflammation by modulating nerve activity

This process triggers a natural cascade of healing that helps restore normal movement and function over time.

What Can Shockwave Therapy Help With?

Shockwave Therapy is commonly used for chronic and stubborn musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis)
  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
  • Rotator cuff pain and calcific tendinitis
  • Hip pain and gluteal tendinopathy
  • Shin splints
  • Myofascial trigger points and tight muscle knots
  • Scar tissue and restricted fascia
  • Acute muscle injury

It is especially effective for chronic conditions that have not responded well to rest, stretching, or manual therapy alone.

If you’re struggling with ongoing pain or a condition that hasn’t improved with other treatments, Shockwave Therapy may be a safe and effective option for you.

Improve Your Mobility with Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) Many people believe that mobility simply means being flexible. They stretch their hamstrings, loosen their shoulders, or try to touch their toes. While flexibility can be helpful, true mobility is something different . Mobility is your usable range of motion — the range you can actively control with strength and stability. At Naturally Well Chiropractic , we often work with patients who feel stiff, restricted, or limited in their movement. One of the most effective systems we use to improve joint function and mobility is functional range conditioning (FRC) . FRC is a science-based approach that focuses on improving joint health, expanding range of motion, and building strength at the edges of your mobility .
